I am happy to announce that the Writing Center is experiencing a high volume of requests for appointments! In order to welcome as many students as possible, I will be scheduling twenty-minute sessions this week and next week, rather than the usual thirty-minute sessions. You'll see this reflected in the Writing Center schedule, where many blocks now show room for three names instead of just two. If only two people sign up during a block, we can still use thirty minutes for our meetings! And, if you have any concerns about the shortened meetings, please feel free to share them with me, Dr. Porterfield, or Ms. Lee. We want to make sure each one of you has access to substantial support and instruction.

Varsity Tennis
Last week we won our state sectionals title and then went on to win another state title for Non-Public A. We are now in the semi-finals of the Tournament of Champions with the 4 other top teams in the state. This past weekend Caroline McGinley was a finalist in the state singles tournament. Grace McGinley and Remy Charters (first doubles) won the state doubles tournament, making them the best doubles team in the state of New Jersey. We are so excited for our last week of the season and hope to bring home the title of first team in the state.
India Fest
India Fest is THIS FRIDAY from 5:30 to 7:30 in the US! Delicious food, vibrant colors, traditional Indian dances, mehendi, photo booth, customized accessories. . . we have it ALL! Soccer beat Union Catholic and Linden last week! On Tuesday, we are playing ALJ (one of our rivals) and it's senior night!
Volleyball
We have a home game today against Governor Livingston and county semifinals against Union Catholic away on Wednesday.

When most people think of the Supreme Court and LGBT history, the legalization of same-sex marriage in th case Obergefell v. Hodges often comes to mind. However, did you know that the first case to recognize rights for LGBT people was One, inc. vs Olsen? This case, which involved the freedom of the press to distribute a magazine targeted towards queer people, occurred in 1958, when the Los Angeles Post Master refused to deliver the magazine, on the basis that telling “pro-homosextional stories” was “obscene.” As you may expect, One. Inc sued the Post Master, asserting that their right to freedom of the press was being violated, and the case made it all the way to the Supreme Court. In the end, the court ruled in favor of the magazine and asserted the rights of free speech with respect to LGBTQ+ people.
Field Hockey
Field hockey has a game today (10/21) at home against Mendham at 4:00. It is our pink out day so come support! We also have a game on Wednesday away against Millburn. On Friday, it is our senior day against Cranford at home at 4:00 so please come support as well!
